Abstract

Total knee arthroplasty is a painful operation. This study examines in what degree pre-operative pain, symptoms and psychological factors can influence the pain lapse from before the surgery to the fourth post-operative day among patients that have got implanted a knee prosthesis.

The sample was drawn from norwegian patients who underwent total knee arthroplasty for osteoarthritis. Data was collected by questionnaire and information from patient journals.
Gross sample: 245 persons
Net sample: 203 persons
